🍹National Piña Colada Day – July 10, 2021🍹

A frosty and delightfully creamy concoction of pineapple, rum, and coconut cream, the Piña Colada, was first created in Puerto Rico in 1954. Although its history is contested among Puerto Ricans, it is rumored that the bartender Ramón
“Monchito” Marrero first prepared it at the Caribe Hilton’s Beachcomber Bar

in San Juan, Puerto Rico on August 16, 1954. The hotel had requested that Monchito mix a new signature drink that embodied the flavors of the island and
shortly after he accepted the challenge, the Piña Colada was born. Regardless of its history, we can all agree that this drink is pretty tasty. On July 10, we celebrate National Piña
Colada Day so kick back with the tropical, frothy, boozy cocktail (preferably poured into a hurricane glass) and do the best thing possible with them… drink them!
💙Pick Blueberries Day – July 10, 2021💙

Pick Blueberries Day is celebrated on July 10 every year and it’s the perfect time for this activity as the day falls in the summer. Blueberries are extremely popular berries in the United States and they are
known to be rich in antioxidants. Raw blueberries also have the most flavor and great benefits. These factors are reason enough to get out of the house and go blueberry picking!

HISTORY OF PICK BLUEBERRIES DAY
Pick Blueberries Day is celebrated annually in July, a peak summer month that is ideal for harvesting these juicy and mouthwatering berries. This day is part of National Blueberry Month, which was founded by the National American Blueberry Council and has officially been recognized by the United States Department of Agriculture since 2003.
There are two distinct types of blueberries — lowbush blueberries or wild blueberries and highbush blueberries. The former can be identified as small and pea-sized berries that grow on low-level bushes. The latter are larger berries that grow on taller cultivated bushes. People can easily pick blueberries from semi-wild or wild bushes.
Highbush blueberries were quite popular in Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands in the 1930s when they were introduced there. After that, they have spread to other regions in the European continent and are widely enjoyed.
The most commonly cultivated species of this berry in North America is the northern highbush blueberry. Canada is a leading producer of lowbush blueberries while the United States produces approximately 40% of the world’s supply of highbush blueberries. Some of the popular regions where highbush blueberries are produced are British Columbia, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Washington, among others.
Initially only used by Native Americans, blueberries are now used for many things, as a topping in several dishes or eaten as a plain healthy snack. Their overall health benefits are reason enough to have a day dedicated to picking blueberries.
🐻Teddy Bear Picnic Day – July 10, 2021🐻

Teddy Bear Picnic Day is celebrated on July 10 every year. Almost every individual has had a teddy bear stuffed toy in their lifetime. They have been loyal companions throughout our childhood. This unofficial holiday is largely celebrated in Canada, the United
States, Australia, and some parts of Europe. With this holiday being in the summer (in the northern hemisphere), it’s the perfect occasion to step outdoors and have a picnic with your children and their adorable teddy bears.

HISTORY OF TEDDY BEAR PICNIC DAY
The minute we hear the word teddy bear, it invokes a warm fuzzy feeling in our minds and hearts. The humble teddy bear has worn many hats since its inception, from being a cuddly playmate to a collector’s item. Though not many people know where the term ‘teddy bear’ or the concept of this stuffed toy even came from. It’s quite an interesting story, actually. It so happened that once during a hunting trip back in 1902, the then U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt refused to shoot a bear that someone had tied to a tree. He stated that shooting it would be unsportsmanlike — and that’s how the story of ‘Teddy’s bear’ came about.
That incentivized certain toymakers to make and sell bears with the name ‘Teddy Bear’ and since then they have become an integral part of people’s lives across the world and age groups. This creation is what led to the making of the song ‘The Teddy Bears’ Picnic’ in the 1900s. Initially, a melody was written for this song by John W. Bratton and, many years later, Jimmy Kennedy, an Irish songwriter, added the lyrics to the tune. This song has been loved and enjoyed by children and adults alike over the years.
Owing to the immense popularity enjoyed by the song, Teddy Bear Picnic Day was created to give us a chance to celebrate the simple and small pleasures of a picnic with these stuffed animals. Don’t forget to prep your teddy bears for this unique and fun holiday.
